About WebP Converter

Workforge WebP Converter converts in both directions: WebP to JPG, PNG, or GIF, and JPG or PNG to WebP. All conversion happens in your browser. WebP is Google's modern image format, typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG or PNG at the same visual quality, and it supports both transparency and animation. The downside is patchy compatibility: older Safari, Microsoft Word, and many stock photo editors still cannot read WebP.

When converting away from WebP, choose the target format and quality. Transparency is preserved when going to PNG or GIF and replaced with your chosen background color when going to JPG. When converting to WebP, choose lossy (default, smaller) or lossless (larger, exact pixel match). Animated WebP files convert to animated GIF when going out, and animated GIFs convert to animated WebP when going in.

Batch mode accepts many files and returns a ZIP. The tool detects the source format automatically, so you can mix WebP, PNG, and JPG sources in the same batch as long as the target format is the same. EXIF and color profile pass through by default; checkboxes let you strip them.

Most WebP converters upload your images, cap free use, or offer only one direction. Workforge WebP Converter runs locally, has no cap, and handles both directions in the same interface. Nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark on the output.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs locally in your browser.

What is the difference between lossy and lossless WebP?

Lossy is the default and gives files similar in size to JPG. Lossless preserves every pixel exactly and is closer to PNG in size.

Is animated WebP supported?

Yes. Animated WebP converts to animated GIF on the way out, and animated GIF converts to animated WebP on the way in.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes. Batch mode accepts many files and returns a ZIP. You can mix source formats in the same batch.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit. Practical limits depend on your browser memory; very large images may take a few seconds to encode.
